Welcome aboard
We are a group of Model Railway enthusiasts with members who have an interest in N, OO and O gauges.
We build model railway layouts in each gauge each having a strong element of scenic dioramas to create interest for those who want more than the just the railway.
We’re holding an Open Day: Saturday 25th October 2025 for more information read more
Our members have interests from:
- current day diesels and electrics back through the early days of modern traction from 50s to 80s
- steam motive power is well represented mostly from 20s up to current day privatisation
- of course passenger and freight are well represented amongst members collections

Whilst we have many of the skills required, we are always looking for new members bringing extra capabilities to our club’s repertoire. This is an ideal time to get involved as we aim to create this exhibition standard layout over the next year or so. If you have skills in track laying, DCC, scenery, making buildings or operating layouts and more, then why not come along to see how you can join our enthusiastic team and make friends for life.

Our current O Gauge layout – Collins Cove – which is nearing completion is loosely modelled on the sea front at Dawlish

Following completion of a high fidelity OO layout and also a N gauge layout, we have recently embarked on an innovative new layout comprising both gauges

Woodend is a fictional OO gauge 4mm layout utilising Peco code 75 fineScale track throughout. It depicts a countryside landscape

We have a strong focus on building layouts, some of our members just wish to run trains and we encourage this interest for those less keen on the creation of layouts. In addition to the models already discussed, we have an OO Gauge former exhibition layout – New Barton which is always available for members who wish to run trains. There is also a small N Gauge test track that can be used to test small scale models.
We also have a growing junior members section appealing to 8 to 16 year olds. Please note, for safeguarding reasons, a parent or guardian must be present at all times that their youngster is in the clubhouse. Our aim is to build the joy in the younger generation that us older hands get from model railways!
We have a dedicated club facility on two floors in the Chantry Centre with access both in and out of centre opening hours. Wednesday afternoon and evening is “club night” when many members get together to have model railway fun, working on layouts and operating rolling stock. In addition the O Gauge group meets often on a Monday morning, whilst OO and N Gaugers meet on Tuesday mornings. We often open for Second Hand Sales, junior skills training and operating trains on some Saturday mornings. With demand, we can open at other times.
Why not come along and see how you can have fun too – we look forward to welcoming you!
