ANDOVER MODEL
RAILWAY CLUB

Publicity

I was fortunate enough to be one of the exhibitors

( Layout No. 7 ,Jamestown ) at your Modelex exhibition over the weekend.

It was my ten year old Godson's first involvement in showing a
layout.......as it was mine.

I would just like to thank you for the warm welcome you extended to us as rookies.

The members of your club were very professional, extremely
supportive and most personable which made our whole adventure so enjoyable.

Please pass my thanks on to all those concerned who contributed to making the day so special.

Again thanks.

Some of this year’s comments received from our Exhibitors

We were once again invited to put on a display for this years show, it's a two day event held over the first weekend in September at the John Hasnon school here in Andover. We went up on Friday night to set up the tables and were joined by Rod to set up his cabinet, in case he might be late on Saturday morning due to a heating engineer as it was he needn't have worried.

We had six cabinets on display, Rod with his superb Ropley engine sheds in OO scale, next was Jason with his local buses in 1/76 scale this display proved very popular, Trevor had his lovely Pickfords heavy haulage and railway freight yard  also in 1/76 scale. Damian brought his Ford railway depot in 1/76 scale, with working engine again this year. Yours truly was next in line with an American diner (built by Skip) and American muscle cars in 1/43rd, last but by no means least was Lyn with her Eddie Stobart vehicles in various scales, these were very popular especially with the children. After a word with Andrew Fendick (the club chairman), Skip was asked to bring along and demonstrate his building techniques with his lorry bodies on the Sunday, you should have seen Skip's face it was a picture.

Saturday was very busy with the public admiring our displays and showing great interest in all the cabinets.  Some of the railway layouts are just fantastic with all the detail shown in them.  The railway club provide lunches for us on both days plus unlimited teas, coffees or cold drinks, the catering is always of the highest quality and a credit to the railway club. According to Andrew it was the best attended show they have had in all the years it's been going.

On Sunday Steve arrived bright and early with his work tray and set to building his lorries, well having sat watching him for a while he's got it down to a fine art.  All our members made purchases over the two days so it was worth being there for the bargains.

Our thanks got to Lyn, Skip ,Damian, Trevor, Jason and also Rod for making the effort to do the two days it was lovely to have your company.  Andrew was over the moon with our displays and said same time next year please that includes you Skip with your demos. So 2nd & 3rd September 2017 same place.
